Kinesiology "A Scientist Perspective"

As a biomedical scientist all my working life I like to think I approach all new or different ideas with an open mind. The trouble, however with being a scientist is that I want to see proof that that something will work. This is how it works in the medical profession.

But that is not necessarily how alternative therapies work. It must be remembered that just because we do not understand how all the alternative therapies work does not mean that they can be dismissed out of hand. Some of the alternative medicines have been around for many, many years. Acupuncture has been used within the Chinese medical profession for hundreds of years very successfully yet it cannot be fully explained. Many of the old remedies from bygone times can now be explained in medical terms and proven to work yet when they were used originally there was not the knowledge of science or physiology to explain the science. Many cultures used heroin for pain relief long before there was a scientific explanation.

I was first introduced to kinesiology by a practicing physiotherapist nearly twenty years ago. Combined with physiotherapy it worked extremely well and so for the first time I experienced the benefits of an alternative therapy working along side conventional medicine.

Since then I have seen kinesiology work for many different problems both physical and mental. They include depression, anxiety, pain, reflux, joint pain and even my son’s bad handwriting. How does it work? From a scientific perspective I have absolutely no idea. But, does it work? In my experience, yes it does.

My advice to you would be, see if it can work for you.
